The Municipal Museum of Loulé is the headquarters of a structure of several museum spaces that exist in the municipality and is installed on the ground floor of the castle of Loulé.
The museum brings together significant archaeological finds, composed essentially of sets of pieces from various sources, collected in urban or coastal areas, as a result of research projects, prospecting and occasional finds.
The Museum exhibits in its three rooms a long-term exhibition with an archeology collection that follows a sequential logic of archaeological findings that attest to the human presence in the county since pre and proto-history, following the periods of Romanization and Islamization, in the high Middle Ages. The last room of the Museum displays some pieces from the Middle Ages and the Modern Age.
